As a key member of the Information Technology group, this position is responsible for all aspects of network administration including servers, desktop systems, communications hardware/software and office systems.
This position reports to the Director of IT and works closely with all development staff.
Roles & Responsibilities
    Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems and applications support).
    Supports server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications.
Performs technology needs analysis.
    Rolls out hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
Plans, implements, and supports the network and computing infrastructure plan.
    Manages small to medium sized projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules.
    Assists with technology planning through ongoing research.
Experience
    Considerable (5 years) and current experience as an Administrator on a medium sized network of servers, desktop systems and communications devices using current technologies.
Education
    4 year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business Administration; supplemented with one or more courses in current technology.
Skills
    4 years experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
    Exceptional technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
    Demonstrated knowledge of Windows servers and desktop products.
    Demonstrated knowledge of setting up remote access for users.
    Demonstrated ability to administer a 250+ node network including firewalls.
    Demonstrated ability to support networked printers and photocopiers.
    Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies.
    Orientation and training of new staff.
    Ability to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts with vendors.
    Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
    Supervising, coaching, and mentoring of network services assistant position.
    Facilitation and change management skills.
    Highly developed verbal and written communications.
    Coordinate and collaborate to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers to meet business demands.
    Plan and implement server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.
    Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
    Deploy, manage and maintain all security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography systems, and anti-virus software.
    Design and implement disaster recovery plan for operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications.
    Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, routers, bridges, switches, hubs, modems, network interface cards, and so on.
    4 years experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
    Exceptional technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
    Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, including Server 2003 R2, Server 2008 (Enterprise a plus), XP and VIsta.
    Experience managing and configuring Microsoft Exchange 2007.
    Demonstrated knowledge pertaining to backup and recovery of MS OSs, Exchange, SQL 2005 (other versions a plus), Backup Exec (or similar product).
    Experience working with and supporting Microsoft Active Directory, including understanding OUs, Group Policies, MS security (file and other) and DNS.
